Can having radiation prevent your hair from accepting curl?

According to the research I’ve done on the effects of radiation therapy, medical professionals say that radiation therapy will only affect the areas that are exposed to the radiation.

Summer Hair Care

Summer is in full force Nebraska, it is time to take special care that our hair needs. Whether it be the sun, sand, the lake or the pool, our hair takes a beating when the temperatures rise. It doesn’t take a lot to ruin our hair but getting it back to a healthy state is another story. Let’s talk about prevention instead. So, sit back in your lounge chair, sip on your iced tea and read on to learn how to beat summer hair damage.
There is no escaping the sun, unless you live under a rock. Short of wearing a hat, there are some other things that can be done to help prevent sun damage. Just as you wouldn’t spend the day at the beach without your trusted sunscreen, you also shouldn’t spend time in the sun without sunscreen in your hair. Use a
leave in conditioner that contains SPF to help prevent damage to your hair. If you are in a pinch and you find yourself taking a road trip in a convertible or spending the day at the pool without a hat or the all important SPF, just use the same stuff you put on your skin. Your hair will probably feel pretty slimy and gross, but a few hours is nothing compared to several months of work to repair the damage. Hair that has been damaged by the sun may become brittle and frizzy. Many times the only way to fix this summer problem is to trim away the damaged follicles.

Happy Summer!

Is it possible to cut your own bangs & if so how?

You want to cut your own bangs??? I do not recommend trying this at home or before a special event. So before you grab those scissors you need to know some simple rules about bangs, and how to avoid cutting them too short.

”Once you cut it, it’s gone.” Always remember that you can cut more off, but you can’t add it back, so you must be sure of where you’re cutting. You always want to cut your hair when damp; cutting dry hair causes it to fly everywhere, and can fray the ends in some cases. But, if you have curly hair, your hair can shrink up to 4 inches when it dries. Even straight hair can shrink as much as one-and-one-half inches.

Frizzy, Curly, Dry Hair - What can I do?

Many times, curly hair is prone to dryness, and therefore frizz. You should be sure you are using a shampoo designed to smooth the hair to fight frizz, and keep your hair well conditioned.
You should use a leave-in conditioner and an anti-frizz serum. It will significantly help to keep your hair smooth. Furthermore, I suggest that you give yourself weekly deep conditioning treatments, by applying your favorite conditioner to your hair & covering it with a plastic cap for 15-20 minutes.

To style your curly hair and combat frizz, use a diffuser attachment on your hair dryer and your fingers to lift the hair while drying. Be sure to apply styling gel and anti-frizz serum to the hair to protect it and hold the hair smooth during drying. Just be sure not to let the hair get too dry and break up the curl too much or you’ll still end up with frizz.

Should you wash your hair every day?

It’s not bad, but it’s better to let the natural oils of your scalp produce & replenish your hair every so often. This reduces split ends and dry, frizzy hair. Try washing every other day, or if you need to wash every day, try just using a moisturising shampoo or you could try just shampooing the roots and not the ends, because the ends are the driest part of your hair. (Aquage Hydrating shampoo is excellent for all types of hair)

Great question Shannon,

How To Avoid Split Ends

Ahhh the agony of split ends! Your hair’s worst enemy. Unfortunately there isn’t much you can do to repair your damaged hair once you have split ends. The only effective way to rid your hair of split ends is to have them cut off.

Once you get your hair cut and all the split ends removed, do not ignore your hair! You should trim your hair about every six weeks to prevent split ends returning.

A lot of women think the length of their hair is more important then their split ends… “I’m trying to grow my hair… If I skip my next trim my hair will grow longer, faster!”

WRONG! Do not ignore your split ends, because once they are there, they will only get worse. The longer you leave them, the further they will climb up the hair shaft. When you finally go for a trim, you will have no choice by to chop off even MORE of your hair!

Thank you for the Question, hope to see you soon at Reve,

Are Spiral Perms Still In?

Well, as styles come and go, it’s best to stick with the “elements of style” that define a given period, and use the basics that A) you like and B) look good on you. Too many women get bogged down in the idea that they have to have the current “trendy” hairstyle, even to the point of selecting a style that doesn’t suit them.

However, I would hope that you have a hairstylist that you feel good about, and with whom you can discuss what you would like to accomplish. He/she can help you adapt your spiral perm into a style that you will love, and one that will not look dated. Stop in & receive a complimentary consultation, we would love to help!

Do you have any tips on how to generally add brilliant shine to brunette hair?…

We love Shine and Smooth made by Enjoy. It Eliminates frizziness. Makes hair soft and silky without weighing it down. Adds incredible shine and smoothness to any style or hair type. Great for hair and skin. Locks in moisture, blocks out humidity. What more can a girl asks for during our humid Nebraska summers!

We also suggest, Moroccan Oil which smoothes texture and adds great shine to frizzy, dry hair.

Both of these products have UV filters to protect your hair condition and hair color against the damaging effects of UV rays.

Reve Salon also offers a process known as a cellophane treatment. A cellophane treatment consists of covering the hair with a long-term shine product. The product is left on the hair usually for less than half an hour and then rinsed out. Your hair will have incredible shine and silkiness for four to six weeks. I personally have had this done in Nebraska & Nevada and loved the results!

So go ahead a treat yourself :)
